Why Photos Matter More Than Most Businesses Realize

Google has directly stated that listings with more photos receive significantly more requests for directions and website clicks than listings with few or no photos — this is one of the highest-leverage, lowest-effort optimizations available on a GBP listing.

What to Photograph

Real photos of your actual location, team, and work in progress consistently outperform stock imagery, which both Google and real customers can often identify as generic. Before-and-after photos, team photos, and genuine customer interactions (with permission) all build trust in a way stock images can't.

How Often to Update

A profile with only the original setup photos, never refreshed, reads as stale — updating photos monthly, or whenever there's genuinely new work or content to show, keeps the profile feeling active and current to both Google and visitors.

Technical Basics

Use well-lit, in-focus, appropriately sized images — Google has minimum resolution recommendations, and blurry or poorly lit photos undermine the credibility they're meant to build, regardless of subject matter.
