Content still matters too: pages that genuinely answer what a local customer is searching for — pricing ranges, service area, what to expect — consistently outperform generic "About Us" copy that never mentions a real service or location.
The Mistakes That Quietly Cap Your Ranking
Having an inconsistent business name across platforms is more damaging than most owners realize — if your Google Business Profile says "Smith Plumbing LLC" and your website footer says "Smith Plumbing Co.," that's a trust signal problem for Google, not just a branding nitpick. Duplicate or unclaimed listings, stale hours, and ignoring negative reviews all work against you quietly, with no obvious symptom other than a ranking that never quite moves.
